Timid Trump Missed 60 Minutes Interview; further shows he is unfit for the job
A very timid Trump backed out of the 60 Minutes Interview breaking a tradition by United States Presidential candidates from both major parties. Starting in 1968 with Nixon and Humphrey, all Presidential candidates that have succeeded them have adhered to this tradition, and now, it’s been broken by Mr convicted of 34 felony counts while he rants about how Vice President Harris does not do interviews. Why would he not be a good fit for President?
Hypocrite
Former President Trump has repeatedly lied and said that Harris is “too scared” to do interviews. This past week, Harris has gone on offense to prove that claim to be wrong. They were already wrong in the past, but she really was out the past week to show that these claims are baseless, naught and false. She did a huge media blitz, by getting interviewed on “Call Her Daddy” and “The Howard Stern Show” to “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, and finally the interview on 60 Minutes. For all the falsities and lies coming from the Trump campaign, he has not returned the favor and gone on interviews like this - rather opting to storm out of the 60 Minutes Interview last time out.
Moving Goalposts
All while the Vice President was going on these shows, and reaching out to voters where they are because, let’s face it: not everyone will watch the news like on MSNBC or CNN or even Fox, the Trump campaign was attacking and moaning on their rallies saying how these interviews “don’t matter” because they’re so “easy”. This was a different tune than what they sang before she went on these shows. Before it was “She doesn’t do them” and now it’s “These shows are too easy”. Come on man, pick a struggle. This move of goalposts is downright disgusting and people will see that this man just wants to see the bad side of others and what others do instead of being principled.
Demands and Conflicting Information
Firstly, the Trump campaign made demands to the 60 Minutes interview team. One moment, it was Mar-a-lago on the 3rd of October, and then it was whether they would meet the former President in Butler, Pennsylvania where he got wounded by a bullet that grazed his head, and ear - and 60 Minutes agreed, only for the former President to back out. This shows that he does not value the effort, time and planning made by others - so long as it benefits one person: himself.
The Trump campaign has given CBS News, the broadcaster of the 60 Minutes interview, conflicting information for the reason why after he had first accepted it. The first was that 60 Minutes would fact check the interview; which they have done several times beforehand. And then, he said that he needed an apology for his interview last time out; where he stormed out, where by the then interviewer Leslie Stahl said that Hunter Biden’s laptop came from Russia. The only problem? She never said that.
Conclusion
This has been an absolute shameful display from the Trump campaign, once again showing that he is unfit for political office, not out of partisan fervor - but out of a basic human decency and common respect for each other’s time and effort. Trump has shown that he would put one person above the people of the United States; himself.
